We are seeking dedicated and hardworking Snow Shovelers to join our winter operations team. The ideal candidate is physically capable, reliable during storm events, and ready to work as part of a team to keep sidewalks, entryways, and walkways clear and safe. This role is well-suited to someone looking for physically active, outdoor seasonal work with the potential for year-round employment when paired with our landscaping season, and it offers a great entry point into the broader snow and ice management field.
Position Summary
The Snow Shoveler is responsible for manually clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, entrances, stairs, and other areas that plows and equipment can’t easily reach. This role requires flexibility, as snow operations often mean early mornings, late nights, weekends, and on-call availability during storms. Snow Shovelers work closely with the Foreman or Snow Operations Manager to ensure all properties are serviced safely, thoroughly, and on time, and they play a critical role in preventing slip-and-fall hazards for our clients and their visitors.
Key Responsibilities

-Apply salt and other deicing materials by hand to walkways and high-traffic areas.
-Assist plow crews and equipment operators with areas that require manual clearing.
-Communicate property completion status and any on-site issues to the Foreman or Snow Operations Manager.
-Follow assigned routes and prioritize properties based on client needs and storm severity.
-Maintain a safe, organized approach to each job site, including proper placement of ice melt and salt.
-Work efficiently in adverse weather and low-visibility conditions.
-Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of hand tools and equipment (shovels, spreaders, etc.).
-Be available on-call during winter storm events, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
-Help load and unload salt, ice melt, and other materials at the start and end of shifts.
-Communicate proactively with teammates and the Foreman to ensure properties are covered efficiently during busy storm periods.
Qualifications
-No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
-Reliable, punctual, and available on short notice during active weather events.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Strong work ethic and willingness to work in physically demanding conditions.
-Basic understanding of safe practices for walking and working on snow and ice.
-Valid driver’s license preferred but not required.
-A positive attitude and willingness to show up ready to work, even in tough weather.
Physical Requirements
-Ability to shovel and lift snow and materials repeatedly for extended periods.
-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, including bags of salt or ice melt.
-Ability to work outdoors in extreme winter weather conditions for extended shifts.
-Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for long periods, including early mornings and overnight hours during storms.
Compensation & Benefits
-Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
-Overtime opportunities during storm events.
-Company-provided equipment and safety gear.
-Opportunities for year-round employment when paired with landscaping season work.
-Profit-sharing opportunities.
-Health, dental, and vision insurance.
-401K with 4% company match.
-Paid sick and vacation time (where applicable).
-Opportunities for training and career growth within a supportive team environment.
