We are seeking a skilled and dependable Irrigation Technician to join our dynamic team. Position Summary
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems across residential and commercial properties. This role requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. Irrigation Technicians work closely with the Foreman or Irrigation Manager to ensure systems are running properly and clients’ properties are well cared for throughout the growing season.
Key Responsibilities
As an Irrigation Technician, you will play an essential role in keeping client properties healthy and properly watered. Core responsibilities include:
-Installing new irrigation systems, including pipes, sprinkler heads, valves, and controllers.
-Performing routine maintenance, seasonal startups, and winterizations of irrigation systems.
-Diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning irrigation components, including leaks, broken heads, and wiring issues.
-Programming and adjusting irrigation controllers to meet the specific watering needs of each property.
-Communicating with clients and team members regarding system status, repairs, and recommendations.
-Reading irrigation plans and blueprints to guide installation and troubleshooting.
-Maintaining accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent at each property.
-Operating trenching equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently.
-Following all safety protocols when working with water systems, electrical components, and heavy equipment.
-Coordinating with other crew members on larger installation projects when additional support is needed.
Qualifications
We welcome candidates with hands-on irrigation experience and a strong technical aptitude. Requirements include:
-1-3 years of experience in irrigation installation, maintenance, or repair preferred.
-Strong understanding of irrigation system components, water pressure, and basic hydraulics.
-Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans and blueprints.
-Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
-Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and trenching equipment safely.
-Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
-Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including digging, kneeling, and lifting.
-Irrigation certification (such as an Irrigation Association certification) is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
-Ability to kneel, bend, dig, and work in confined spaces as needed.
-Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
